COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design and modify light vehicle systems in the automotive service and repair industry.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
While there are no entry requirements defined in the training package, the RTO requires the following criteria to be met:
- Applicants must be minimum 18 years of age at the time
of commencement - Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or
demonstrated equivalency - IELTS score of 5.5 or PTE score of 42 or Certificate III in EAL or its equivalent. In addition,
- Applicants should have basic computer and MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Power Point).
COURSE DURATION
This course will be delivered over 35 weeks of full time study including holidays and breaks.
It is expected that the program would be of less duration for students who have completed components that can be identified by the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and/or credit Transfer.

TARGET GROUP
Candidates who are 18 years and above, (including mature aged clients) who have completed AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or demonstrated equivalency and wish to further develop their skills in diagnostic, analysis, evaluate, design and modify light vehicle systems.
PATHWAYS INTO THE QUALIFICATION
Individuals may enter to this qualification after successfully completing AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or demonstrated equivalency.
PATHWAYS FROM THE QUALIFICATION
After achieving this qualification, individuals could progress to Advanced Diploma qualifications or other relevant qualifications within the Automotive training package.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
This qualification provides a pathway to work as an as mechanical technician with advanced knowledge or a system designer within the automotive industry. Possible job title includes;
- advanced diagnostic technician
- automotive system designer
