Course Overview

This course is designed for students who are eager to gain the skills required to contribute to the creation of major commercial,
residential and infrastructure projects. In this course, students will learn how to use drafting software such as Revit and AutoCAD,
as well as essential engineering principles such as concrete design, steel design, design loads, and safe design principles.
These topics are vital if the students aspire to work in the civil industry as a civil/structural designer,
draftsperson, modeller, or technician. In this role, students will provide crucial support to design engineers,
project managers and engineering managers. Upon graduation, students will be able to demonstrate your
abilities to assist on a wide range of projects and perform technical and complex tasks,
making them a key part of design teams.

Entry Requirements

While there are no formal entry requirements defined in the training package for
RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Building & Construction, it is recommended to applicants
who have been working in the industry. Further, the applicant must meet the following
entry requirements:
▪ Be over 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
▪ Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and
student needs.
▪ Have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old).
English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented
evidence of any of the following:
– Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
– Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an
Australian RTO; or
– Successful completion of an English Placement Test

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted.
Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are
equivalent to IELTS 6.0. Meet prescribed Language, Literacy and Numeracy
requirements.

▪ Pre-Training Review- All prospective students (the candidates) are interviewed and will have the course explained to them by a Student Services Officer.

The purpose of this interview is to ensure the candidate understands the commitment of signing up to the course, entry requirements, course outcomes, and what is expected of the student during their studies with Education Access Australia. The review also aims to identify training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the courses to learner and relevant experience

courses in Civil Engineering.
